The Ministry of Railways has announced that ticketing for the new Amrit Bharat II Express trains will follow the same rules as the Vande Bharat Sleeper services. This means travelers won’t find a separate ticket policy for the Amrit Bharat II Express.
These trains are set to roll out across India starting January 2026, offering a modern and affordable way to travel long distances. They aim to improve passenger experiences with better services and safety measures.
Under the new fare structure, the minimum chargeable distance is 200 km for Sleeper class and 50 km for Second class. Despite this change, the basic fares remain the same as the earlier Amrit Bharat Express. For instance, the fare is still Rs 149 for Sleeper class journeys up to 200 km and Rs 36 for Second class journeys up to 50 km.
Important updates include the removal of RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) in the Sleeper class. However, unreserved Second class tickets will still be available under existing provisions.
Additionally, only three reservation quotas will be offered in the Sleeper class: Ladies quota, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and Senior Citizen quota. Other types of reservations will not be available. In 2023, more than 70% of passengers expressed a preference for simplified ticketing processes, as noted in user surveys. This change aligns with that trend.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express will also adopt similar rules. It will have a minimum chargeable distance of 400 km and the same reservation quotas in place. These adjustments underline the railway’s commitment to improving travel for all kinds of passengers while maintaining convenience and inclusivity.
