Hume City residents who care about the environment can now sign up for the 2026 Nature Stewards program. This 10-week course is perfect for anyone eager to connect with nature and learn conservation skills.
The program, run by the Victorian National Parks Association and supported by Hume, Merri-bek, and Moonee Valley Councils, combines classroom sessions with exciting field trips. Participants will not only learn about critical environmental topics but also explore local natural areas to see real-world examples of environmental management.
The course covers important subjects like soil health, ecosystems, native plants and animals, land management, and the effects of climate change. It’s tailored for those with little or no formal education in the field, making it accessible for beginners who want to start volunteering or even pursue a career in the environment sector.
