Join the Deele Community Anglers: Launching ‘Peacebuilding Through the Environment’ Initiative

Deele Community Anglers in Convoy are kicking off an exciting new program called “Peacebuilding Through the Environment.” This initiative is backed by the PEACEPLUS Fund and aims to encourage climate action in the community.

On February 3rd at 11 am, the project will officially launch at Mongorry Lake, near Raphoe. It focuses on getting people involved in local environmental issues, promoting education, and building skills for sustainable actions.

This project received a hefty €200,000 investment. It’s part of a larger €7.6 million plan aimed at fostering peaceful, thriving communities in Donegal. According to the latest statistics from the Environmental Protection Agency, local initiatives like this are vital as they engage communities and significantly impact climate resilience.

Participants in this program will work on local environmental challenges, improving biodiversity, water quality, and overall community health. The project will connect with schools, community groups, and other organizations to address pressing environmental issues together.

David Scott, the chair of Deele Community Anglers, expressed excitement about the funding. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in tackling environmental problems. Social media buzz around the project shows growing interest; people are eager to learn more and participate in these initiatives.

For anyone keen on joining the project or learning more, they can reach out through their Facebook page or contact Noelle Donnell.

With climate change on the rise, community-driven projects like “Peacebuilding Through the Environment” are crucial. They not only enhance local ecosystems but also build a sense of unity and purpose among residents. More information can be found on the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) website.
