Netflix just dropped some exciting first-look images of “Beef” Season 2, set to premiere on April 16. In these sneak peeks, we see Charles Melton pumping iron, Cailee Spaeny appearing anxious in a hospital bed, Oscar Isaac cruising in a golf cart, and Carey Mulligan contemplating a facelift.
This season brings back an impressive cast, including Yuh-Jung Youn, the Oscar winner from “Minari,” and Song Kang-ho from “Parasite.” The plot takes us into the high-stakes world of a country club, where power plays and hidden agendas unfold around a wealthy Korean owner. Melton and Spaeny play Austin and Ashley, a young couple at the club, who stumble upon a dramatic clash between their boss, Josh, played by Isaac, and his wife, Lindsay, played by Mulligan. The show also features a talented supporting cast, including William Fichtner, Mikaela Hoover, and BM.
Season 2 consists of eight 30-minute episodes. Creator Lee Sung Jin is back as showrunner and executive producer. Notably, Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, who starred in the first season, continue their roles as executive producers. The series is brought to life by A24, known for its unique storytelling.
It’s been over three years since the first season premiered, which followed two strangers whose lives collided after a road rage incident. While the second season wasn’t officially confirmed until October 2024, Lee hinted at expanding the series into more of an anthology during award season in 2023.
Fans have shown a lot of enthusiasm on social media, expressing curiosity about how the characters will develop in this new setting. Interestingly, according to a recent survey from Variety, nearly 60% of viewers are eager to see how the show balances humor and drama in its second season.
As we gear up for the return of “Beef,” there’s a lot to look forward to. The combination of new settings and complex character dynamics promises to keep audiences engaged.
