Stidham, now 29, emphasized his preparation: “Every week, I’ve prepared like I’m the starter. That hasn’t changed.” He understands the pressure, having backed up Russell Wilson before.
A fourth-round pick by the Patriots in 2019, Stidham has been with Las Vegas and now Denver. He last started in Week 18 of the 2023 season when Wilson was benched. His teammates recognize the stakes, especially after losing their leader, Nix. “It’s a quick transition,” said Sutton, reflecting on the team’s recent changes. “You feel sad, but we still have a job. Jarrett is capable. He has the skills and football IQ to succeed.”
