UNC Women’s Tennis Hosts ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The No. 3 University of North Carolina women’s tennis team is gearing up for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Chewning Tennis Center. This weekend, only three teams—UNC, Charlotte, and Columbia—will compete. As the top seed, UNC earns a first-round bye and will play the winner of the Charlotte vs. Columbia match on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 56 teams across 14 sites vying for spots in the National Indoor Championships later this spring.

Recent Highlights and Insights
- Team Ranking: UNC remains at No. 3 in the ITA Team Rankings for the second straight week.
- Player Recognition: Oby Kajuru was named ACC Player of the Week on January 20 after a significant win against Savannah Dada-Mascoll, who was ranked No. 5. This marked Kajuru’s first weekly honor since joining UNC.
- Coaching Milestone: Head coach Brian Kalbas recently celebrated his 800th career win, becoming the winningest active coach in NCAA tennis and joining an elite group of coaches to achieve this milestone.
- Fresh Talent: Freshman Anna Frey has made a solid start, winning her first four singles matches and both doubles matches with partner Tatum Evans.
UNC has also seen success in individual rankings. Reese Brantmeier, who won the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship, is currently ranked No. 1 in singles and has achieved All-America honors throughout her collegiate career.
