The Indianapolis Colts have confirmed that an FBI investigation is ongoing regarding the death of Jim Irsay, the team’s former owner. This inquiry looks into the role of a California doctor, Dr. Harry Haroutunian, who had reportedly prescribed Irsay painkillers and ketamine.
Despite the investigation, the Colts stated that they have not yet been contacted by the FBI or received any subpoenas.
Irsay, who was 65, passed away in May from cardiac arrest. The Washington Post reported that the FBI is gathering information on Irsay’s substance use and his connection to Dr. Haroutunian, who was reportedly at the same Beverly Hills hotel when Irsay died. A grand jury subpoena was issued recently in Los Angeles as part of this investigation.
Throughout his life, Irsay openly discussed his struggles with addiction. He faced several overdoses, with one incident nearly taking his life. Following his death, his three daughters—Carlie, Casey, and Kalen—took over ownership of the Colts.
