Experience the Excitement: Blue Demons Take on Seton Hall This Saturday at DePaul University!

DePaul’s men’s basketball team is back at Wintrust Arena for a matchup against Seton Hall on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT. You can catch the game on truTV, featuring commentary by Brandon Gaudin, Greg Anthony, and Nabil Karim. If you prefer radio, Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will provide coverage on Sirius XM and the DePaul Blue Demons app.

Before the game, DePaul is hosting the BIG EAST Road Trip event at Marriott Marquis Chicago from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

In their last game, DePaul (11-8, 3-5 BIG EAST) faced Butler and lost 87-80, despite Layden Blocker scoring a season-high 20 points. CJ Gunn added 16 points, and Théo Pierre-Justin made four three-pointers. The Blue Demons have recently found their rhythm, scoring over 80 points in consecutive games against Marquette and Butler—something they hadn’t achieved before in BIG EAST play this season. Their strong offensive performance includes ten made three-pointers against Butler and eleven against Marquette. Defensively, they rank in the top five in the BIG EAST for scoring defense, turnovers forced, and field goal percentage defense.

Historically, Seton Hall leads their series 26-10, but it’s been more competitive in Chicago, where they hold a slight edge at 9-7. Last season, both teams won one matchup each, with DePaul claiming a 74-57 victory at home.

Seton Hall comes into the game with a record of 14-5 and has lost their last three matches. In their previous game against St. John’s, they narrowly lost 65-60. Stephon Payne stood out with a double-double, showing his scoring and rebounding skills. The Pirates have excelled defensively, limiting 14 of their 19 opponents to under 70 points. AJ Staton-McCray leads Seton Hall with an average of 12.2 points per game and shoots 35.6% from three-point range. Their standout defense is ranked among the top 10 nationally, boasting impressive figures in turnover margin and blocks per game.

As they prepare for this important game, both teams aim to gain momentum as the season progresses. After facing Seton Hall, DePaul will hit the road for back-to-back contests, starting with Georgetown.

According to recent surveys, college basketball attendance is on the rise, with an increase in viewer interest especially among younger fans. This bodes well for teams like DePaul, attempting to reconnect with their fan base and attract more supporters. For example, a recent NCAA report indicated that attendance rose by 7% across the country last season, a trend that might benefit the Blue Demons in their home games.

Overall, both DePaul and Seton Hall are looking to turn their seasons around, adding excitement for fans as they watch the game unfold.
