Intel and AMD have long dominated the Windows laptop market. However, things are shifting. It’s not just Apple MacBooks or MediaTek-powered Chromebooks using Arm chips anymore. We now have Qualcomm Snapdragon laptops running Windows, and soon, Nvidia will introduce Arm chip-powered consumer laptops.
Instead of pairing its graphics chips with Intel CPUs, Nvidia will use its N1 system-on-chip. Recently, Lenovo revealed it has six new laptops featuring the N1 and N1X processors. Among these is a 15-inch gaming laptop.
A dataminer named Huang514613 shared details about these models on X. The lineup includes 14 and 16-inch versions of the Ideapad Slim 5, two variations of the 15-inch Yoga Pro 7, and a Yoga 9 two-in-one device.
You don’t have to rely on Huang alone. Lenovo’s website hints at a “Legion 7 15N1X11” gaming laptop, confirming the N1X gaming chip.
In addition, a quick Google search uncovered Lenovo listings for “Nvidia N1x Portal Prod” and “Nvidia N1x Portal Test” sites, suggesting serious developments are underway.
Recent reports indicate Nvidia plans to launch its N1 and N1X platforms this spring, with additional models rolling out by summer. Though these were delayed, there’s already talk of N2 and N2X chips scheduled for late 2027.
While we’re still learning about the N1 and N1X’s power, a Geekbench leak suggests the N1X might have a comparable number of CUDA cores to a desktop RTX 5070 graphics card. This may mean around 20 CPU cores, similar to Nvidia’s GB10 chip used in professional setups. Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, has hinted that the N1 and GB10 are closely related.
As consumers increasingly lean toward Arm-based devices, it’s an exciting time in the laptop market. Keeping an eye on these developments will be crucial as things continue to evolve.
