Clarendon County Archives is seeking your help to gather photographs and documents related to Jordan School, which was dedicated to Black children in grades 1-8. This school, which closed its doors in 1970, was located near King Road, not far from the Clarendon County Airport. Some remains of the building can still be found in a wooded area across from Union Cypress AME Church.

In other community news, the annual Oyster Roast hosted by St. Matthias’ Church will take place on January 24 at the Flowers Farm Tomato Shed. Starting at 5:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy oysters, catfish stew, BBQ, and more, all while listening to live bluegrass music. Proceeds will benefit various church ministries.

The Harvin Clarendon County Library has introduced a Caring Box outside its doors for those in need. This initiative allows community members to take what they require and donate items such as non-perishable foods and hygiene products. It’s a 24/7 resource designed to help those who need it most.
