Dolphins Set to Elevate Bobby Slowik as New Offensive Coordinator: What This Means for the Team’s Future

Dolphins Promote Bobby Slowik to Offensive Coordinator

The Miami Dolphins have appointed Bobby Slowik as their new offensive coordinator. This decision comes after Slowik’s role as the passing game coordinator during the 2025 season. He also recently applied for the Eagles’ offensive coordinator position.

This move is part of a broader strategy under new head coach Jeff Hafley. Hafley has already brought in Chris Tabor as the special teams coordinator and is looking to fill the defensive coordinator spot as well.

At his introductory press conference, Hafley emphasized a flexible approach to the offense. He wants to tailor plays to highlight the players’ strengths rather than sticking rigidly to a set playbook. “We need to build around our quarterback and provide him with the necessary support,” Hafley said. This approach is significant given that Miami’s passing game struggled last season, averaging only 180.5 yards per game, ranking 25th in the league.

Tua Tagovailoa, who might leave Miami this offseason, puts further pressure on the team to rethink their quarterback strategy. Meanwhile, the Dolphins excelled on the ground, mainly thanks to running back De’Von Achane, who amassed 1,350 rushing yards, placing fifth in the NFL.

Hafley is committed to bolstering the running game. “I enjoy running the football,” he mentioned. He believes play-action passes can create separation and confound defenses, making it a crucial strategy for this season.

Before joining the Dolphins, Slowik had two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans. His first year there was promising, ranking 12th in yards per game. However, the following season saw a drop in performance, with Houston finishing 22nd.

Overall, the Dolphins are making significant changes as they prepare for the upcoming season, focusing on building a more effective offense that leverages their existing talent.
