Kickstart Your Health Journey: How YMCA is Here to Support You Every Step of the Way!

MONROE — The YMCA is a beacon for healthy living, and it’s getting even better! This year, it has a new name — the Colony Brands Green County Family YMCA — thanks to a generous gift from Colony Brands that helped fund its exciting expansion.

The revamped space boasts an impressive 60,000 square feet dedicated to wellness. It features a futuristic spin room and a walking track with beautiful views of Green County. Laci Gilbertson, the director of healthy living, highlighted some fantastic offerings designed to help residents kick-start their journey to a healthier 2026:

  • Free group fitness classes for members
  • 50 group classes each week, ranging from relaxing yoga to vigorous boot camps
  • FOREVERWELL programming aimed at active adults aged 55 and up
  • A sauna available during pool hours
  • Healthy Living Kitchen with both free and paid classes
  • Free fitness orientations to guide members in using the equipment
  • Four fitness studios, including two with virtual on-demand classes for added convenience
  • A Power House for strength training, featuring squat racks, Olympic benches, and more
  • A Healthy Living Center packed with the latest Matrix cardio and strength equipment
  • Turf for functional training, sleds, and rowers
  • An indoor walking track (10 laps equal a mile)
  • Partnership with SSM Health for the Healthy Living Referral Program, helping individuals transition from physical therapy to fitness
  • 24/7 access for members

These offerings come at a crucial time. Recent studies show that nearly 80% of Americans don’t meet the recommended guidelines for physical activity. The YMCA’s new resources aim to change that by making fitness more accessible and engaging for everyone, no matter their age or level of experience.

The expansion reflects a broader trend in community health initiatives. According to a report by the American Heart Association, local support for wellness programs significantly boosts community participation in fitness activities. This means that the YMCA’s enhancements might just encourage more people to get moving.

As the community embraces these new offerings, social media is buzzing with excitement. Many users are sharing their fitness journeys, tagging the YMCA, and inspiring others to join classes or try personal training sessions. This digital engagement only adds to the sense of community and shared commitment to health.

With its new name, expanded facilities, and a focus on holistic well-being, the Colony Brands Green County Family YMCA is set to play a vital role in the health of the Monroe community. It’s more than just a gym; it’s a hub for transforming lives.
