Villanova University will be closed on Monday, January 26, due to bad weather. This decision affects all undergraduate in-person classes and activities, which are canceled. For graduate classes, some may still occur remotely, depending on professors’ choices. Essential staff are expected to report to work, and only certain dining halls will be open.
The university announced the campus closure via the NOVA Alert system and on its website just before 5 a.m. on Monday. This decision followed a weekend storm that left up to nine inches of snow in parts of the Philadelphia area.
Dining hours for the day will be adjusted. Dougherty Dining Hall on the main campus and The Court at Donahue will open at 9 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. St. Mary’s Dining Hall will open later, at 10:30 a.m., and also close at 8 p.m. Other food services may have limited operations due to staffing issues and delivery delays.
Additionally, all university fitness centers, including Davis, Farley, McGuinn, and Stanford, will remain closed for a second day. They also closed on Sunday due to the weather.
Public transportation is affected too. SEPTA reports delays and service changes. The Regional Rail, buses, and some subway lines are suspended. Once conditions improve, the Regional Rail will operate on a limited schedule.
Interestingly, this closure marks the first time since January 6, 2025, that the campus has shut down due to snow. Over the years, winter weather has led to various closures and delays, highlighting how unexpected storms can impact daily life.
