Diamond Lil, a cocktail bar in Greenpoint, has rolled out a fresh menu under the guidance of its new chef, Alfredo Miller. Miller brings a unique blend of French and Latin flavors, inspired by his time at Pastis in Manhattan and his Colombian roots.
Some favorites have been updated. The halloumi toast now includes pickled red onion and garlic hummus, while the mushroom toast features cilantro lime yogurt. There’s also a shrimp cocktail that remains a go-to dish.
But it doesn’t stop there. Miller has introduced six exciting dishes. Highlights include homemade French onion soup and a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich accompanied by olive tapenade. Diners can also enjoy potato puffs, reminiscent of the French pommes dauphine, and a winter salad featuring red lettuce, red endives, pear, hazelnuts, blood orange, and gorgonzola.
A first for Diamond Lil is the addition of dessert. The quesoflan—part flan, part cheesecake—is served with a delicious guava sauce, offering a sweet ending to any meal.
Jonathan Wright from Diamond Lil mentioned that the menu will change with the seasons. Their oyster offerings, sourced from Greenpoint Fish & Lobster, will also continue, accompanied by an oyster happy hour.
The new menu is available from Wednesday to Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. While the kitchen is closed on Sundays, patrons can still enjoy house-made marinated olives and sweet and spicy cashews.
On Mondays and Tuesdays, Diamond Lil features a pop-up from Brooklyn Boards Catering. This pop-up offers rotating cheese and charcuterie boards along with special dishes like chicken pot pie, mac and cheese, French dip sandwiches, and shrimp étouffée.
Food trends show an increasing interest in fusion cuisines, with studies indicating that over 71% of diners are eager to try new culinary experiences. Restaurants incorporating diverse influences often see greater foot traffic. This shift reflects changing tastes and the desire for unique dining options in urban areas.
