Get Ready for the RADD Sports College Invitational: Exciting Track & Field Action at the University of North Florida!


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida track and field team is geared up for the RADD Sports Collegiate Invitational this weekend, taking place from February 24-25 at the Alachua County Sports Center in Gainesville, Florida. This marks their second trip to Gainesville this season, following a successful outing last weekend where Smilla Kolbe and William Owens set new program records in the mile and 200m events.

This weekend will also be special as it’s the team’s first two-day event of the season. They previously competed only on the first day during the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on January 17. Expect a full squad to hit the track on both Friday and Saturday for a mix of exciting events.

LAST TIME OUT

Men’s Squad

  • Aidan O’Gorman clinched first place in the 1-mile with a remarkable time of 4:06.24, showcasing a strong performance.
  • Close behind, Robert Pedroza finished second at 4:08.20, leading the charge for the Ospreys.
  • In his debut, Owens made a splash by breaking records with a third-place finish in the 200m, clocking in at 21.55.
  • Seth Martinez crossed the finish line fourth in the 3000m, posting a time of 8:17.68.
  • Ladarius Tellis also shone with a third-place result in the mid-distance category, recording a time of 2:28.45.

Women’s Squad

  • Kolbe impressed by finishing second in the 1-mile at 4:37.34, a new program record in her opening race this season.
  • Ella Chandler took third in the 800m with a solid time of 2:11.97, leading her team in the event.
  • Nicole Shepherd secured fourth place with a jump of 1.65m, highlighting her skill and consistency.
  • In the 400m, Gabby Johnson earned sixth place with an impressive finish of 57.31, boosting the team’s sprinting efforts.
  • Cohen Kooker rounded out the results with a ninth-place finish in the 3000m, clocking 10:15.41.
