NAU Athletics: Exciting Split Week Ahead in Flagstaff and Moscow!

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (January 27, 2026) – This week, the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team is back at home to face off against Eastern Washington on Thursday before heading to Idaho for a game on Saturday.

The Lumberjacks play the Eagles at 3 p.m. MST on January 29, right before the men’s team takes the court at 6 p.m. Tickets for the women’s game will also get you into the men’s game. On January 31, NAU will tip-off against Idaho at 2 p.m. MST. Fans can catch both games on ESPN+.

Currently, NAU has a record of 7-14, with 3 wins and 5 losses in Big Sky conference matches. Their last outing ended in a 72-59 loss to Northern Colorado. Naomi White had an outstanding game, scoring 26 points, marking her 10th game this season with 25 points or more. She’s the top scorer in the Big Sky and among the best freshmen nationwide. Madison Watts also contributed significantly with 14 points, and she leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.6 per game.

On the other side, Eastern Washington comes in with a record of 10-10, including 3-4 in league play. They recently lost to Sacramento State, finishing that game 61-54. The Eagles have a decent ranking in both scoring offense and defense. Kourtney Grossman shines for them, leading the conference in rebounds with an impressive 13.1 per game. Meanwhile, Ella Gallatin is their leading scorer, averaging 14.5 points.

Idaho, who NAU will face on Saturday, is currently 15-5 overall and 6-1 in Big Sky games. They lead the conference in scoring and rebounding offense, hitting just under 80 points per game. Kyra Gardner is a standout player, averaging 13.9 points and is one of the top-performing players in the league. The Vandals are coached by Arthur Moreira, making history as the first Brazilian head coach in NCAA DI.
