Amazon is shutting down all its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh locations. Instead, the company is shifting focus to grocery delivery and its Whole Foods Market brand. In a blog post, Amazon mentioned it will convert some of the soon-to-close stores into Whole Foods locations. Currently, there are 57 Amazon Fresh stores and 15 Amazon Go spots.
The company stated, “We’ve seen encouraging signs in our Amazon-branded physical grocery stores, but we haven’t yet created a unique experience with the right economic model for large growth.” Customers can still shop online for Amazon Fresh in areas where it’s available, ensuring quick and easy delivery. The final day for Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go stores is February 1, but California locations will stay open longer due to state rules.
