The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is gearing up for its 26th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser on February 26, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Perot Family Campus in Plano. This event, sponsored by Kroger, promises an evening filled with delicious tastings from local chefs and unique handcrafted bowls created by local artists.
Trisha Cunningham, NTFB’s president and CEO, expressed her excitement about the event’s impact on fighting hunger. “Empty Bowls has helped provide nearly 9 million meals for those in need,” she noted.
Attendees can also look forward to live music from the Texas Jazz Cats, a silent auction, and a wine pull. Each guest will take home a handcrafted bowl, symbolizing the ongoing struggle against hunger.
This year features Nikky Phinyawatana, chef and founder of the Asian Mint restaurant group, known for her exceptional Thai cuisine. In 2024, she released her cookbook, Thai Food and Travel with Chef Nikky, and she shares her passion for bold flavors at the event.

Recent statistics reveal that nearly 744,000 individuals in the 12-county service area face food insecurity, with children making up a significant portion of those affected. Texas consistently ranks as the state with the highest number of people experiencing hunger.
Kroger, as the presenting sponsor, plays a vital role in this mission. Their Zero Hunger Zero Waste initiative is designed to ensure families receive the nutritious food they need.
