LOS ANGELES — Big news for Super Bowl fans! Kendrick Lamar will take the stage for the halftime show this year, and he’s bringing SZA along with him.
They recently shared a fun teaser where Lamar is seen walking on a football field, and SZA surprises him with a splash of water. These two talented artists will perform on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
SZA used to be on the same label as Lamar, Top Dawg Entertainment. She contributed her vocals to his latest album, “GNX,” appearing on tracks like “Gloria” and “Luther.” This album also pays tribute to icons with samples from Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn’s classic song “If This World Were Mine.”
Their collaborative hits include the Oscar-nominated “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind.” Fans can expect even more from them this spring as they co-headline a North American tour. The Grand National Tour kicks off on April 19 in Minneapolis and wraps up June 18 in Washington, D.C.
As for the Grammy Awards, SZA is nominated for her single “Saturn” in two categories: best R&B song and best R&B performance. She has won four Grammys so far, while Lamar is up for seven nominations, including song and record of the year for “Not Like Us.” He has a total of 17 Grammys to his name.
Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will co-produce the halftime show, with creative direction from pgLang, the company founded by Lamar and Dave Free, who directs many of Lamar’s music videos.
Last year’s halftime show was unforgettable with Usher performing alongside stars like H.E.R. and Alicia Keys. This year promises to be just as exciting!
