Siena Men’s Lacrosse Team Recognized in Rankings
The Siena Men’s Lacrosse team is making waves in the USILA Preseason Coaches Poll, landing 16th among teams getting noticed in the poll released on January 25. This is a promising start for the Saints as they gear up for the season.
Maryland tops the rankings with 623 points and 21 first-place votes. Following them are Syracuse, Princeton, defending champion Cornell, and Georgetown. These teams are shaping into strong competitors this year.
Last season, Siena posted an impressive 11-5 record, clinching their fourth MAAC Championship—their first since 2014. They showcased their skill by matching their longest winning streak, scoring a notable 12-8 victory against Sacred Heart in the MAAC Championship on May 3. This streak tied the program record set back in 2009.
Statistic-wise, Siena was no slouch. They ranked fourth nationally in both points per game (22.5) and assists per game (8.75). Their shot percentage stood at .322, landing them seventh in that category. Additionally, they were eighth in scoring, averaging 13.75 goals per game.
User reactions to the Siena team’s ranking have been positive on social media, with fans expressing excitement about the upcoming season and the team’s potential to outperform expectations.
As the season kicks off on February 7 against Boston University, fans will be keen to see if the Saints can continue their winning ways and carry the momentum from last year into this new chapter.
