“‘Send Help’ Tops Global Box Office with M+ Debut: Disney Celebrates 10th Consecutive No. 1 Weekend!”

This weekend, Disney’s Send Help outperformed Markiplier’s Iron Lung at the box office. Send Help made a strong debut with $28.1 million worldwide—that’s $20 million domestically and $8.1 million from overseas in 47 markets. In contrast, Iron Lung earned about $21.7 million globally from just 11 markets.

Send Help had a budget of $40 million before marketing costs, marking a significant win for an R-rated original film. It’s impressive, too, for an indie production like Iron Lung, which cost under $3 million. Reports indicate that Iron Lung had several sold-out screenings in international markets.

In total, Disney is having a great run, with Send Help contributing to its 10th consecutive week at the top of the global box office. Currently, Disney holds the top three spots with Avatar: Fire and Ash earning $24.8 million (including $5.5 million from domestic markets) and Zootopia 2 pulling in $23.1 million.

The success of Zootopia 2 is particularly notable since it remains popular in its tenth weekend, gaining 9% in box office earnings compared to the previous week. It has grossed over $1.77 billion globally, a milestone for animated films.

On the flipside, Iron Lung made an estimated $17.8 million in the U.S. and about $3.9 million overseas. Its performance was slightly better than other indie horror films, including a notable debut in Australia where it ranked number one.

Meanwhile, Jason Statham’s film Shelter opened with $13 million globally, showcasing the appeal of action films even with higher production budgets. This film, alongside Mercy starring Chris Pratt, demonstrates the ongoing competition in the action genre at the box office, where audiences still flock to big names.

Interestingly, social media buzz around these films is immense, with fans discussing everything from the performances to visual effects. Memes and reviews have sparked conversations across platforms, reflecting the cultural impact of these releases in today’s entertainment landscape.

In summary, Disney is dominating the box office, while indie films like Iron Lung are also making their mark. Whether it’s through big-budget blockbusters or small-scale originals, there’s something for everyone at the movies right now.
