Join Our Community Food Drive: Support Wooster Residents in Need!

On February 14, the Wayne County Public Library will host a “Give & Take Food Drive” from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. This event is open to all and aims to address rising food insecurity as SNAP benefits are set to decrease.

The library, located at 220 W. Liberty St., will allow community members to drop off food or funds without any forms or restrictions. Participants can give what they can and take what they need. This open approach is designed to make it easier for everyone to access support during tough times.

Organizers are asking for nonperishable items, gift cards for groceries, and hearty produce such as potatoes and carrots. Monetary donations are also welcome, which will go to local groups like The Hope Center, Homeward Bound, and the United Way, all of which work to combat food insecurity.

This initiative is co-sponsored by the Wooster Advocacy Group and the Wooster Democratic Socialists of America, highlighting a collaborative community effort to help those in need.

A recent survey by Feeding America revealed that food insecurity has increased dramatically, with 1 in 9 Americans struggling to access enough food. Events like this are crucial as communities rally together to support one another, especially in challenging economic times.

By allowing easy access to food resources, the “Give & Take Food Drive” hopes to unify the community and provide immediate relief to those affected.
