Tawanchai PK Saenchai showcased an incredible performance while defending his title as the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion. This thrilling event took place at the packed Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the main event of ONE 170 on January 24, Tawanchai faced Superbon, the top-ranked contender and current champion in ONE Featherweight Kickboxing. Their match was highly anticipated, especially after a hard-fought battle in 2023, where Tawanchai secured a majority decision victory.
The fight started with Superbon bringing his usual flair and powerful kicks to the ring, reminding everyone of his skills. However, Tawanchai took a more measured approach, waiting patiently for the right moment to strike.
In the second round, Tawanchai’s strategy paid off. He observed Superbon’s movements and then unleashed a flurry of precise punches, knocking him down for the first time.
After the brief pause, a clearly shaken Superbon faced more of Tawanchai’s combinations, leading to another knockdown. With his opponent on shaky legs, Tawanchai was relentless. He pressed forward with an explosive series of shots, ultimately flooring Superbon again.
The referee called the match under the three-knockdown rule, marking a TKO victory for Tawanchai at just 1:10 into the second round. This remarkable win brought his record to 134 wins and 31 losses, with an impressive 10-1 in this premier martial arts organization.
Tawanchai’s victory not only defended his title but also rewarded him with a $50,000 bonus for his outstanding performance.
