Kanpur: Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Indian Navy Chief, spoke to students in Kanpur, emphasizing the power of youth in shaping India’s future. He firmly believes that young people will be crucial actors, directors, and audiences in creating a developed nation by 2047.
During his address at the Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre, he highlighted that 65% of India’s population is youth. This demographic will play a vital role as the future leaders, referred to as “Gen 2047.” He encouraged the students to seize this opportunity and contribute actively to the nation.
Admiral Tripathi shared his own journey, mentioning that he didn’t receive any honors until joining the National Defence Academy. His hard work led him to earn various medals, such as the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Nau Sena Medal. He stressed the importance of self-belief and resilience in achieving one’s goals.
On subjects like discipline, character, and job security, he advised students to stay persistent and never lose hope. His visit came after many years, and he recognized Kanpur as a city rich in educational institutions, including the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). He proudly noted that Kanpur has a significant history, being linked to the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny.
Tripathi also expressed appreciation for the many alumni from the Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre who serve in the Armed Forces. He viewed the naval memorial being built in Lucknow as a source of pride for the nation, reinforcing that the Indian Navy represents all citizens.
This conversation resonates with a larger trend. Many young people today are eager to engage with social issues, economic development, and national pride. A recent survey showed that over 70% of young Indians believe they can contribute to societal changes, reflecting a growing sense of responsibility and ambition. This movement supports what Admiral Tripathi pointed out: the youth indeed have the potential to lead India into a brighter future.
