Drive-Thru Food Pantry Set for Feb. 10 in Wooster

The Wayne County Health Department, with the help of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, is organizing a drive-thru food pantry on February 10. It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their Wooster location, 244 W. South St.

Last month, the pantry supported over 130 families. According to Nicholas Cascarelli, the Wayne County health commissioner, “We are thankful for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the community’s willingness to volunteer.” This shows how local efforts can make a big difference in tough times.

To qualify for food assistance, individuals must earn at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. This is about $30,120 per year for a single person. A family of four can earn up to $62,400 to qualify. These figures highlight the ongoing need for food support in our communities.

Visitors should enter the pantry through the alley off Walnut Street. This ensures smooth traffic flow and keeps important entrances clear. If you're interested in volunteering, reach out to the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590.

Recent studies reveal food insecurity is on the rise, affecting millions nationwide. According to a report by Feeding America, 42 million people may face hunger in 2023. Events like these pantries are essential, offering crucial support to those in need.

Sharing experiences on social media helps raise awareness. Many people are posting about local food drives, encouraging others to get involved. These community efforts can foster stronger connections and promote goodwill.
