The Warriors, on the other hand, are getting a veteran center, Porzingis, who has a significant contract worth $30.7 million. If he can stay healthy, he could play a key role in the Warriors’ lineup.
Porzingis has been on the Warriors’ radar for a while, especially after his impactful playoff runs with the Boston Celtics. The team has been searching for a center who can protect the rim and shoot three-pointers. They believe Porzingis could work well alongside Draymond Green, who is expected to stay with the team despite being mentioned in other trade talks.
However, Porzingis has encountered health issues, including a challenging illness that has limited his playing time. He has only been in 17 games this season after struggling in his last year with Boston. He’s under a contract that gives the Hawks control for next season, making this a strategic move for them.
In a separate transaction, the Warriors also sent backup center Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Toronto Raptors. They received a second-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers for 2026 in return.
