Gore was drafted by the Royals right out of Gulf Coast State College when he was just 19 years old in the 2011 MLB draft. He made his major league debut in September 2014 after several years in the minor leagues. Although he had a tough time hitting consistently and spent time bouncing between the majors and minors, his speed made him a valuable asset. Many coaches relied on him as a pinch runner during tight games.
Gore was a part of three World Series-winning teams: the 2015 Royals, the 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers, and the 2021 Atlanta Braves. Born in Macon, Georgia, he played a total of 112 regular-season games over his eight-year career. The Dodgers brought him onto their roster in September 2020 as they prepared for a National League Wild Card Series against Milwaukee, even though he had only played two major-league games that year.
Sadly, he died following complications from a routine surgery, according to his widow’s post on social media. Gore leaves behind his wife and three children.
