Kansas Softball Prepares for FGCU Matchup
Kansas softball heads to Florida for a midweek game against Florida Gulf Coast University on Tuesday, February 10, at 4 p.m. CT. Fans can catch the action on ESPN+.
Head coach Jennifer McFalls shared her thoughts on the season so far. “We’ve seen many positives and gained experience against tough teams,” she said. “Now, we need to focus on playing complete games and bringing the right energy.”
The Jayhawks started their 2026 season strong, achieving back-to-back run-rule wins against Bethune-Cookman and Illinois State. They scored a whopping 25 runs in these games, showcasing their offensive strength with several extra-base hits and home runs. Meanwhile, their pitchers set a solid foundation, helping them begin the season with a 2–0 record.
During the USF-Rawlings Invitational, the team faced stiff competition from South Florida, Michigan, and Florida. The Jayhawks quickly took early leads against USF and Michigan. Notable performances included Chloe Barber, who struck out eight batters against Michigan, and Kaelee Washington, who had an impressive start against South Florida. This tough competition has given the team valuable experience that they can build on.
As they aim to bounce back against FGCU, Kansas is focused on honing their skills and maintaining their momentum.
