Kutztown Women’s Bowling Makes National Waves
Kutztown University’s women’s bowling team is making headlines! Recently, they landed at No. 25 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) midseason poll. This shows they are still competing strong this season.
The team also ranked sixth in the Division II/III poll, moving up from ninth. It’s noteworthy that Kutztown is the only East Coast Conference team recognized in this category.
So far, the Golden Bears have a solid record of 37 wins and 21 losses. Their performance has been impressive, especially against tough opponents. They finished with winning records in three out of four recent tournaments. A highlight was their strong showing at the Northeast Classic in late January, where they really shined.
Under the guidance of Angela Reynolds, the reigning ECC Coach of the Year, the team is gearing up for a successful run at the East Coast Conference Tournament. Reynolds recently celebrated her 300th career win, a testament to her effective coaching.
Key players include Kamryn Brenneman, last year’s ECC Rookie of the Year, and standout freshman Madilyn Bogovic. The experienced seniors, Shelby Wunch and Sydney Snyder, along with a strong supporting cast, are crucial to the team’s success.
In terms of competition, Jacksonville State leads the NTCA polls, holding 41 out of 44 possible votes. Vanderbilt follows as a close second, securing the remaining votes. Notably, Bryant University is just ahead of Kutztown, sitting in 24th.
In the Division II/III rankings, Maryville is on top with all first-place votes. Kutztown is one of only four teams to have moved up in the rankings since the preseason, highlighting their continued growth and capability.
Looking ahead, Kutztown will compete in three more tournaments, with their next challenge being the Wildcat DII Invitational in Blackwood, New Jersey, from February 13 to 15.
With consistent performances and strong leadership, the Golden Bears are poised for a successful end to the season, especially as they approach postseason play.
