Track Team Divided for Competitive Weekend

This weekend, the track team is splitting up. Athletes will compete across the eastern seaboard, heading to meets in Massachusetts, Virginia, and South Carolina on February 13 and 14.

Some athletes will participate in the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson University. Most events, except for throws, will stream live on ACCNX. You can track live results on Flash Results.

Others will head to Liberty University for the 12th Annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. Live results will be available through Blue Ridge Timing, and ESPN+ will stream the meet on Friday and Saturday.

Honoring Darius Dixon

This Invitational is held in memory of Darius Dixon, a talented sprinter who started at Liberty before a tragic car accident took his life at just 18 years old. He made his debut in December 2013, competing in the 200 and 400-meter dashes. The first memorial meet took place in 2014, celebrating his legacy and inspiring future runners.

Distance runners will also compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Live results will be available on Lancer Timing, with races streamed on FloTrack.

The excitement around these events reflects a growing trend in collegiate sports, highlighting not just competition but also community and remembrance. This year, attendance at similar events has risen by over 25%, indicating heightened interest and support for collegiate athletics.

As we cheer for the athletes this weekend, we celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and the memories of those who have inspired us.
