Edmonds Food Bank’s Game Day Triumph: A Community Celebration of Giving – My Edmonds News

Seattle’s Big Game Day brought excitement not just on the field, but at the Edmonds Food Bank. Their fundraising campaign aimed at raising $12,000 ended up bringing in over $15,000. With a generous match from Table for 12, the total reached more than $27,000. This money will directly support food programs for local families in need.

Launched as the Seattle Hawks celebrated their journey to the Big Game, the campaign tapped into community pride. Residents joined in, transforming game-day enthusiasm into real help for neighbors facing food insecurity.

“Our community really stepped up! It was a thrilling week for Seattle and a significant boost for our food bank,” shared Kellie Lewis, the Food Bank’s Marketing and Communications Manager.

This funding allows the Edmonds Food Bank to provide nutritious meals to over 1,500 households weekly. According to Feeding America, 1 in 9 people in Washington state faces hunger, making efforts like this crucial.

Food banks across the country are seeing similar trends. For instance, a recent survey revealed an increase in community donations tied to local sports events. People feel a stronger connection between their teams and their communities, and initiatives like the Edmonds campaign show just how impactful that can be.

By turning excitement into action, the Edmonds community not only celebrated their team but also made a significant difference for those who need it most.
