FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks women’s basketball team faced a tough game against Simon Fraser, ending with a score of 92-54.
The game started on a positive note for the ‘Nooks. They took an early lead of 10-6 thanks to Tamai Mancuso, who made two three-pointers and a layup. However, Simon Fraser quickly turned the tables, finishing the first quarter with a 9-0 run to lead 15-10.
In the second quarter, the Red Leafs kept the momentum, stretching their lead further. Despite a few contributions from Chozen Horn-Young and Emily Freeman, the Nanooks headed into halftime trailing 46-22.
The third quarter saw Freeman starting strong with another three-pointer. Yet, the Nanooks couldn’t narrow the gap. By the end of the quarter, they were down 70-38. In the fourth, Mancuso scored an impressive nine points in a row, but it wasn’t enough to turn the game around.
