PHILADELPHIA – The UNT men’s basketball team is in town this Sunday, ready to continue their winning streak after a home victory over Memphis. They’ll face the Temple Owls at the Liacouras Center, with the game starting at 1 p.m. CT. You can catch it on the Mean Green Sports Network and ESPN+.
North Texas (14-11, 5-7) is coming off a 76-69 win against Memphis, marking their second straight victory. Temple (15-9, 7-4) is looking to regroup after a 77-66 loss to Tulane. This matchup will be the only meeting between the two teams this season. Last year, they faced off twice, splitting the games. Temple won the last one, which was tough for UNT, snapping a seven-game streak.
The all-time series between these teams favors North Texas 2-1, but they’ve yet to win at Temple’s Liacouras Center.
After this game, UNT heads back home to the Super Pit to take on Tulane again on Thursday, with only three home games left in the season.
Player Spotlight: David Terrell Jr.
Since January, David Terrell Jr. has been on fire. In his last 10 games, he’s averaged 15.2 points per game (ppg) with a shooting accuracy of 42.7%. He’s also contributing 4.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. This is a big jump from earlier in the season when he averaged about 11 ppg. He has scored in double digits in nine of those 10 games.
Injury Update: Buddy Hammer Jr.
Buddy Hammer Jr. made a strong comeback from injury in the game against Memphis, scoring a career-high nine points in just 15 minutes. He also grabbed four rebounds, which is impressive after missing two games due to illness.
