Choosing a color for your new MacBook is surprisingly tough. As reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is experimenting with shades like light yellow, green, blue, and pink for its upcoming entry-level MacBook, which is geared towards students and businesses.
In addition to these fun colors, Apple is also testing classic silver and dark gray. However, not all of these options will make it to the final design. Recently, Apple has shown it’s open to bolder choices, like when it updated the iMac in 2024 with seven vibrant colors, replacing the traditional space gray with a fresh sky blue for the latest MacBook Air.
But let’s talk about more than just colors. The price for this new MacBook is rumored to be around $699 to $799. To keep costs low, Apple might use components from its iPhones, like the A18 Pro chip first introduced in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This means some sacrifices in specifications, ports, or even the display might be on the horizon. However, Gurman notes that, unlike previous budget models, Apple plans to use a new method to create aluminum shells for this version instead of going for cheaper plastics.
Interestingly, there’s a growing trend among students and tech enthusiasts favoring vibrant colors in tech products. A survey by the tech research firm Statista shows that 64% of Gen Z prefer colorful gadgets over traditional designs, highlighting a shift in consumer preferences.
With a likely announcement in March, many are eagerly waiting to see not just the colors but also how Apple balances affordability with quality. It seems like this new MacBook can appeal to a wider audience without compromising on what makes an Apple product distinctive.
