HENDERSON, Nev. – The Las Vegas Raiders have officially brought Andrew Janocko on board as their new Offensive Coordinator.
Janocko, pronounced juh-NO-co, has a solid track record. Just last season, he was the quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks. He worked closely with QB Sam Darnold, leading the team to a Super Bowl victory earlier this month. During that season, Darnold had impressive stats: a career-high completion rate of 67.7%, totaling 4,048 yards and throwing 25 touchdowns.
Before Seattle, Janocko was with the New Orleans Saints, and he has spent 12 of his 14 coaching years in the NFL. His journey began at Rutgers University as a graduate assistant in 2011. He then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two seasons, before making his way to the Chicago Bears and ultimately to the Seahawks. In Chicago, he helped QB Justin Fields thrive, pushing the Bears from a three-win season in 2022 to seven wins in 2023. Fields notably became the second-fastest QB in NFL history to reach 2,000 rushing yards.
Janocko’s coaching style emphasizes growth. Under his guidance, Derek Carr excelled with a passer rating of 101.1 in 2024. This season saw a significant improvement in Carr’s game, where he threw 15 touchdowns against just five interceptions. Janocko’s influence has been felt widely, demonstrating his ability to elevate the talent of those he coaches.
In 2021, while with the Minnesota Vikings, Janocko helped QB Kirk Cousins achieve a stellar passer rating of 103.1, landing him in the Pro Bowl. He also played a key role in rookie Justin Jefferson’s record-setting season, where Jefferson achieved the highest receiving yards ever for a rookie at 1,400 yards and earned All-Pro honors.
Historically, NFL teams have benefited when they hire coaches with diverse backgrounds. Janocko’s experience across various roles, from offensive line coaching to working with receivers, shows his well-rounded approach. In fact, in 2019, the Vikings offensive line allowed only 28 sacks, showcasing the effectiveness of Janocko’s coaching methods.
Despite the excitement surrounding Janocko’s appointment, social media reactions have varied. Fans are curious about how his strategies will change the Raiders’ offensive play. The NFL community is buzzing with discussions about his potential impact, further highlighting the importance of leadership in football.
Janocko’s roots run deep in football. Growing up in Clearfield, Pa., he played for his father at Clearfield Area High School, leading his team to district championships. His journey from a backup QB at Pitt to an NFL Offensive Coordinator is a remarkable testament to hard work and dedication.
Andrew Janocko’s experience and proven success give Raiders fans hope. As he steps into this new role, all eyes will be on him to revamp the Raiders’ offensive strategy and lead them to future victories.
