CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team is on the road again, facing BYU tonight at 9 p.m. ET in Provo. They recently played against Utah, suffering a 67-59 loss. Although they were down by 18 points at one point, they fought back to cut the deficit to just five with five minutes left.
Player Highlights:
Mya Perry, a senior, made her 66th three-pointer against Utah, putting her in a tie for 10th on UC’s single-season record list. She’s just four away from tying for eighth place.
Caliyah DeVillasee, a standout freshman, has scored in double figures in 20 of her 22 games this season, including seven in a row. She had 13 points and five assists against Utah, and with 91 assists this season, she could become only the fourth Bearcat freshman to surpass 100 assists in a season since 2006-07.
In a recent game, Cincinnati beat Arizona 77-61, marking one of their biggest wins since joining the Big 12. Ramiyah Byrd achieved career highs with 14 points and 15 rebounds, making her just the third player since 1999 to hit that mark.
Reagan Jackson has been consistent, averaging 14.5 points last week. She scored a season-high 19 against Arizona, reaching double figures in 14 games this year.
Statistical Standouts:
Perry is currently sixth in the Big 12 in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game. She ranks second for made three-pointers, hitting 2.5 per game and is among a select group of Power 4 players with over 400 points and 60 threes this season.
DeVillasee ranks 11th in scoring (15.4 ppg), field goal percentage (.414), and assists (4.1) in the Big 12. Her five games with 20+ points are the most by a Cincinnati freshman since 2002-03.
Kylie Torrence, another freshman, is strong defensively, ranking eighth in rebounds (7.1) and tenth in blocks (1.0) in the Big 12. She’s one of only nine freshmen nationwide averaging over eight points, seven rebounds, and one block.
The team’s rebounding has been impressive, with the Bearcats leading in offensive rebounds in the Big 12 and placing 38th nationally. They have a solid record, winning nine out of 11 games when holding opponents to under 69 points.
