The Woodlands, Texas — Norah Seidl made quite the splash at the Texas Golf Throwdown, finishing the first day in sixth place. She wowed everyone with a hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth hole during her second round. Overall, she ended her day at 1-over 146.
Seidl notched scores of 72 and 74 across her two rounds. She kicked off her first round with a birdie on No. 18, then navigated five straight pars. After a mix of bogeys and pars on the front nine, she ended strong with a bogey-free final seven holes, including birds on Nos. 11 and 14.
In the second round, Seidl was steady again. She repeated her birdie on No. 18 and made it even more memorable with her hole-in-one, hitting a 160-yard shot with her 7-iron. This was her team’s first ace of the season, adding to the excitement of the day.
The Montana State Bobcats as a team landed in 14th place after a total score of 311 in the first round and a partial score of 301 in the second, cut short due to darkness. Coach Brittany Basye acknowledged the tough day, expressing pride in Seidl’s performance while noting the lessons from challenging rounds.
Montana State’s team also saw notable performances from their players. Heinz carded a 75, while Wilson and Greeny each submitted 77s. Montoya contributed with an 82. They faced challenges but showed promise, with key birdies helping their overall scores.
As for the competition, Iowa State took the lead with a score of 1-under 575. Nichakorn Pinprayoon of Iowa State led the individual rankings at 4-under. The top three players are separated by just a few strokes, keeping the competition tight.
Interesting to note, golf professionals emphasize the psychological aspects of the game. According to psychologist Dr. Robert Neff, maintaining focus during challenging rounds can set players apart. As the players gear up for day two, their mental fortitude will be just as important as their technical skills.
The Bobcats are slated to finish the second round at 7:30 a.m. MT on Tuesday, teamed up with Nebraska and Cincinnati for the final showdown. For real-time updates, check out live scoring at Clippd.
