Mariska Hargitay’s Heartwarming Hospital Moment with Lindsey Vonn Following Olympic Crash

Mariska Hargitay showed her support for Lindsey Vonn after the Olympic skier faced a tough crash. Lindsey, 41, had to undergo multiple surgeries following her injury during the women’s downhill event at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Mariska visited Lindsey in the hospital and shared a touching moment with her. Lindsey posted a sweet black-and-white photo on her Instagram Stories. In the picture, Mariska, 62, rests her head against Lindsey’s while holding her arm. They both shared a lot of love online, with Mariska calling Lindsey her “Galentine.”

Their friendship goes back a bit. Lindsey appeared in a Law & Order episode back in 2010, but it’s unclear if that’s how they met. They’ve supported each other over the years, with Lindsey cheering for Mariska at the premiere of her documentary My Mom Jayne.

Lindsey’s crash was quite a news story. During the race, she lost control and experienced a severe fall, which led to her being airlifted to the hospital. The incident resulted in a complex tibia fracture and a ruptured ACL. Notably, only nine days earlier, she hurt her knee in a World Cup race.

International Ski and Snowboard Federation president Johan Eliasch shared insights on the matter, emphasizing that knowing your body is key when pushing limits in sports. He mentioned that everyone had high expectations for Lindsey, but accidents are part of ski racing.

This wasn’t the first time Lindsey faced setbacks. She made her Olympic debut as a teen and went on to win three Olympic medals: gold in 2010 and two bronzes in 2010 and 2018. After retiring in 2019 due to injuries, she announced her return in 2024 following a knee replacement.

Lindsey’s teammate, Breezy Johnson, took home the gold in the women’s downhill event at the 2026 Olympics, proving that the sport continues to evolve. In a heartfelt February 14 post, Lindsey reminded her fans not to feel sad for her, stressing the risks inherent in skiing. “Every skier in that starting gate took the same risk,” she noted, reflecting on her determination and love for the sport.

Lindsey Vonn’s journey and resilience continue to inspire many, showing that while challenges come, the spirit of competition remains strong.
