Union Minister Piyush Goyal recently launched ‘Bharat GI’ at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. This new initiative aims to showcase Indian Geographical Indication (GI) products globally, starting with Indian GI Coffee.
Bharat GI is designed to give Indian products the international recognition they deserve. Goyal highlighted on social media that India’s GI products are rooted in rich traditions, skilled craftsmanship, and unique local knowledge. He emphasized that these attributes set them apart from others. With this initiative, India hopes to invite the world to experience the distinctive flavors and aromas of its coffee and other GI products.
The India AI Impact Summit, taking place from February 16-20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, is an essential part of this initiative. The summit brings together tech firms, government officials, and start-ups to discuss how artificial intelligence can transform everyday lives. Spanning over 70,000 square meters, the Expo will feature 300+ exhibition pavilions, including 13 international pavilions from countries like Australia, Japan, and the UK.
Over 600 startups will showcase innovative solutions designed for a global audience. The event expects to attract around 250,000 visitors, with discussions led by over 3,250 speakers on the future of AI. This large-scale event isn’t just about showcasing technology; it’s also about creating partnerships and exploring new business opportunities.
As interest in Indian GI products grows globally, initiatives like Bharat GI could significantly boost India’s economic landscape. Recent studies indicate that products with GI status often command higher prices in international markets, making this initiative timely and strategic.
In essence, ‘Bharat GI’ aims to celebrate India’s heritage while opening new doors for its unique products worldwide.
