Fargo is talking to its residents about the future of downtown food carts. So far, over 800 people have filled out a survey shared by Planning Director Nicole Crutchfield. The city has been looking into changes to food cart rules for three years, mainly due to complaints. Issues include unpermitted vendors, carts left out overnight, and some vendors staying open past 2 a.m., breaking the rules.
Crutchfield mentioned that one option could be to remove food carts from downtown sidewalks entirely. “We’re listening right now,” she said. In about a month, she plans to present a summary of the feedback to the City Commission for possible changes.
