bioMérieux, a key player in diagnostics since 1963, has introduced SMARTBIOME™, a tool designed to aid food manufacturers in managing microbiological spoilage. This innovative solution leverages high-precision DNA sequencing alongside bioinformatics to provide clear insights into spoilage issues.
Each year, around 15-20% of food produced worldwide is wasted, with microbial spoilage being a significant factor. Microorganisms like Pseudomonas and various fungi lead to losses in both fresh and processed foods. For manufacturers, this is not just a loss of product but also a concern for their reputation and operations.
SMARTBIOME™ aims to tackle these issues by helping manufacturers identify spoilage organisms quickly. It allows them to trace problems back to their origins and makes it easier to boost quality control. By analyzing microbiological trends, companies can anticipate and prevent future spoilage.
