LYNCHBURG, Va. – This weekend, Liberty University kicks off its home season with the Liberty Softball Classic. It’s an exciting time as they host teams like Toledo, Syracuse, and Maryland. After this event, the Lady Flames will hit the road for the Mizuno Classic in Charlottesville, where they’ll face Ohio State.

Friday, Feb. 20
- 11 a.m. – Syracuse vs. Toledo
- 1 p.m. – Liberty vs. Toledo
- 3:30 p.m. – Liberty vs. Syracuse
Saturday, Feb. 21
- 10 a.m. – Toledo vs. Maryland
- Noon – Liberty vs. Maryland
- 2:30 p.m. – Toledo vs. Syracuse
- 4:30 p.m. – Liberty vs. Syracuse
Sunday, Feb. 22
- 10 a.m. – Syracuse vs. Toledo
Mizuno Classic:
- Sunday, Feb. 22
- 11 a.m. – Liberty vs. Ohio State
Quick Highlights
- Last weekend, Liberty secured its first two wins of the season against Georgia Southern. They won 5-3 and 6-1. Paige Doerr even hit the season’s first homer.
- The team faced tough competition early on, with six of their first nine games against Top 10 ranked teams. They scored first against heavyweights like Tennessee and Alabama.
- Ella Fox, a standout transfer from North Carolina, leads the team with a .333 batting average. Other notable hitters include Maci Strickland and Alexia Carrasquillo.
- On the pitching side, seven different players have taken the mound. Gabby Mike, a transfer from Duke, has started five games, while Camden Anders got her first career win last weekend.
- Liberty is aiming for its third straight Conference USA title. Several players were recognized on the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team, including catcher Savannah Jessee and pitcher Kaylan Yoder.
With 11 newcomers this year, including transfers and freshmen, the team is looking to blend fresh talent with experience. As the season unfolds, the Lady Flames are sure to be a team to watch.
