Discover the All-New Bixby: What You Need to Know in One UI 8.5!

Samsung Electronics just launched a beta program for the newest version of Bixby. This update transforms Bixby into a more conversational assistant for Galaxy devices. Now, users can speak naturally, making it easier to control their devices without memorizing commands. Plus, Bixby can pull in real-time answers from the web, enhancing the user experience.

Won-Joon Choi, Samsung’s Chief Operating Officer for Mobile, noted their focus on making technology accessible. “Since our first AI phone launch in 2024, we’ve aimed to simplify interactions,” he said. That’s why they revamped Bixby for smoother conversations and device control.

Easy Control with Natural Language

Bixby now understands everyday speech. No need to remember complicated terms or navigate tricky menus. Users can simply ask for what they want. For instance, saying, “I don’t want the screen to time out while I’m still looking at it,” prompts Bixby to automatically keep the screen on.

It’s not just about following commands, either. If users ask, “Why does my phone screen stay on in my pocket?” Bixby will identify the relevant settings, like Accidental Touch Protection, guiding users to fix the issue directly.

Instant Access to Real-Time Information

Bixby’s new feature also allows live web searches. Users can ask for up-to-date information while staying within the app. For example, saying “Find hotels in Seoul with swimming pools for kids” yields relevant results right in the Bixby interface. This cuts the hassle of switching apps.

Availability

The latest updates are rolling out under One UI 8.5 in select regions, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the U.S., with plans for a broader release soon.

Additional Insights

User reactions to voice-activated assistants are largely positive. According to a Pew Research study, nearly 70% of Americans have interacted with voice assistants, showcasing their growing presence in daily life. Research also highlights that 72% of users appreciate devices that understand natural language better than traditional interfaces.

As tech moves forward, Bixby illustrates how user-friendly innovations can enhance our interactions with devices. It’s exciting to think about how this technology will evolve, making our lives even more convenient.
