Exciting Update: Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Now Available on Nintendo eShop – Includes Collector’s Edition and New Trailers!

Nintendo is excited to announce that Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen will be available on the eShop soon. Each game will cost $19.99, launching on February 27, 2026.

Both titles will feature local wireless play, and Pokémon Home support will be added later. The games have different listings based on language: the US eShop supports English, Spanish, and French, while the EU version adds German and Italian. The Japanese eShop only offers the titles in Japanese.

Here’s a peek at what to expect from Pokémon FireRed:

Set off on a grand adventure to become the Pokémon League Champion on your Nintendo Switch! Celebrate 30 years of Pokémon with this updated version of Pokémon FireRed. Explore the Kanto region, discover wild Pokémon, and aim to complete your Pokédex. Battle Gym Leaders, earn badges, and uncover secrets along your journey.

In this digital exclusive, you’ll also explore the Sevii Islands, filled with more Pokémon. Join the Pokémon Wireless Club to trade, battle, and chat with friends nearby. Plus, Pokémon Home support is coming soon, so you’ll be able to bring your trained Pokémon to the place where all Pokémon gather.

Currently, these titles can only be found in the “Coming Soon” section of the eShop on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. They haven’t appeared on the official Nintendo website or mobile app yet.

In exciting news for collectors, a special physical edition has also been announced for Japan. It will include a download card for your chosen title, a replica GameBoy Advance box for both games, and a glass Poké Ball set. This deluxe edition will be available only in Japan, and the download code will work on the Japanese eShop.

There’s a lot of buzz around this release on social media too. Many fans are excited about the nostalgic journey back to Kanto, with trending discussions highlighting how these games shaped their childhood.

With Pokémon’s immense popularity, this release aligns with the recent trend in the gaming industry toward nostalgia, providing a chance for both new players and returning fans to relive the adventure.
