The FBI is actively coordinating with Mexican authorities about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie from the “Today” show. Nancy, 84, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, believed to have been taken against her will in the early hours of February 1.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that Nancy may have been intentionally targeted. He noted the FBI maintains a robust presence at the border with dedicated agents who work closely with their Mexican counterparts. The FBI office in Mexico City acts as a key link for these investigations.
While initial reports have not confirmed any evidence that Nancy was taken into Mexico, investigations are still ongoing. Mexican Attorney General Gustavo Rómulo Salas Chávez stated there’s no indication of Nancy being in Sonora, the Mexican state neighboring Arizona.

Investigators are also examining video footage from Nancy’s doorbell camera, hoping to find clues. The only video obtained so far shows a suspected kidnapper near her home. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of an accomplice.
