HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison University (JMU) put on a strong performance in men’s tennis, winning 6-1 against Hampton on Friday at Hillside Courts. This victory marks their fourth consecutive win, bringing their record to 4-2.

In doubles, JMU quickly took the lead, winning two out of three matches. The pair of Grant Kroodsma and Francisco Sinopoli dominated with a 6-1 victory. Following that, Zach Fleishman and Aurelien Schmitt clinched the doubles point with a solid 6-3 win.

Moving into singles play, JMU continued its momentum. Every singles match finished in straight sets, allowing for a quick conclusion—under two hours. Harrison Lee started strong, overpowering Jude Killikelly with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 score.

Hampton managed to claim a point when Rafael Padilha defeated Schmitt 6-2, 6-1. However, JMU’s Fleishman quickly responded with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Benedict Badza.

The decisive point came from Gur Libal, who rallied from 2-5 down in the second set to beat Aryan Arora 6-2, 7-5. JMU’s lead stretched to 5-1 when Esteve Agusti secured a 6-1, 6-4 win against Tshion Fedorov. Sinopoli finished the match with a comeback win of 6-3, 6-4 against Kohei Konishi.

Recent statistics show that JMU’s athletic programs are on the rise, with a 66% win rate overall this season. This performance not only boosts team morale but also reflects a strong commitment to training and teamwork.

JMU will host Longwood on Sunday, February 22, at 1 p.m. at East Campus Tennis Courts, where fans will eagerly see if they can extend their winning streak.
