Nissan is recalling nearly 643,000 Rogue SUVs built between 2023 and 2025 due to issues with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder VC Turbo engine. This recall impacts vehicles from two separate concerns.
One issue relates to the electronic throttle chamber (ETC) assembly. Some models have faulty engine control module (ECM) software. If the system runs a diagnostic test, it could lead to a weakened gear in the ETC, potentially causing it to break. This malfunction might result in a loss of power and could prevent the driver from shifting into gear during a restart.
The second recall focuses on engine bearing failures. Following a previous recall, Nissan found that high engine oil temperatures can wear down oil quality, leading to potential bearing damage or engine failure. For cars previously repaired, Nissan will need to reprogram the ECM and check for metal debris in the oil pan.
Nissan has notified dealers and plans to send out letters to owners soon. The company’s best-selling model, the Rogue, faces challenges with these recalls, raising concerns among drivers about reliability.
In a recent poll by AutoTrader, 63% of car owners expressed a lack of trust in vehicle recalls, illustrating growing anxiety over automotive safety.
