Nanooks Hockey Team Clinches 15th Straight Governor’s Cup
The Nanooks hockey team has done it again! They secured their 15th consecutive Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup by defeating the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves 6-2. This victory comes with just two games left in the season series.
Game Highlights
The scoring kicked off early in the first period. Chase Dafoe tipped in a shot from Adam Cardona just under four minutes into the game, putting the Nanooks ahead. Braden Birnie assisted on the play. Birnie then found the net himself a few minutes later, capitalizing on a power play and making it 2-0 at the end of the first period.
In the second period, the Seawolves fought back. Tanyon Bajzer scored just 1:41 in, followed by Dimitry Kebreau’s goal that leveled the game at two. Both goals came with assists from Camden Shasby and Ryan Johnson.
The tension carried into the third period, where Chase Dafoe once again put Alaska ahead. His tip-in goal came early, catching the Seawolves off guard. Alexander Malinowski quickly followed up with another goal, increasing the lead to two.
