Austin Peay jumped ahead early, scoring in the second inning with a hit. They added two more runs in the third—one from a solo home run and another from an RBI single—making it 3-0. Eastern Michigan struggled against their pitcher, who nearly threw a no-hitter through five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
In the fourth inning, Austin Peay’s offense surged again with a two-run single, pushing the score to 5-0. Finally, Eastern Michigan made a move in the seventh. Nathan Borchardt scored after reaching base three times on walks, thanks to a throwing error. Unfortunately, the Eagles only managed one hit from Ty Stecko in the eighth inning, which ended Austin Peay’s no-hit bid. The game wrapped up with a final score of 6-1 after Austin Peay scored another run in the seventh on a wild pitch.
