The festival will bring together health professionals, local organizations, and the community for a day filled with activities focused on well-being. The motto for the event is “lighting the way together,” emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare for all.

Dr. Jacobi I. Bedenfield, a director at the UF College of Nursing, shared the mission behind the festival: “As we celebrate 70 years of impact, we are excited to gather with our community to focus on what matters most: health, access, and partnership. This festival embodies our belief that when we light the way together, healthier communities follow.”
This event aligns with a larger trend showing that community health initiatives are on the rise. Recent studies indicate that festivals and health fairs significantly improve community engagement in health screening and education. Offering services in inviting environments can lead to higher participation rates.
According to a 2022 survey by the National Association of County and City Health Officials, health fairs can increase awareness about preventive care by 40%, showing that approachable and interactive methods work effectively.
By continuing to invest in community partnerships and outreach programs, the UF College of Nursing is making real strides in enhancing local health resources and education. This festival is a perfect example of that commitment and an exciting opportunity for everyone in the area to engage in their health journey.
